09/22-23- Left early Thursday morning from Santovenia de Oca heading to Burgos 24km (15 miles). Big milestone today, both reaching Burgos and walking now over total 200 miles!! For those interested, Iβm averaging 39,000 steps a day.

Today was a long journey through fields, forests, asphalt paths in cities, and very rocky paths in the country. While my feet are ready for their day of rest, the goal to get to Burgos was a laser focus today.

Stopped for lunch with several pilgrims, as we all were heading to Burgos together. We were all tired, and our feet were hurting, so a nice lunch before we finished reaching our destination was worth it.

Reaching Burgos today, all of us celebrated with a lot of high fives and congratulations as it means we have all walked 200 miles and have reached a city that is considered a landmark spot on the Camino de Santiago. As Iβve said before, they say if you make it to Burgos, youβll finish the trek all the way to Santiago.
Burgos is a large city with a population of 180,000, is referred to as the gothic capital of Spain, and was also the seat of the government until 1938. It is home to one of the largest cathedralβs in Spain, Cathedral de Santa Maria.

My thoughts: the walk to Burgos was long and my feet were ready to rest. Glad to have a rest day to recoup and stroll through the cathedral. What a sight!! Amazing!!
Iβm feeling super grateful, humble and proud to have reached Burgos. As a pilgrim in the Camino you learn to let go of worldly things and just live for today with what you have on your pack. Itβs an amazing opportunity I donβt take for granted. Iβm ready to go and push on to Santiago. The next section of the Camino, will be the Meseta. Dry fields of nothing, flat land and trails for as long as your eyes can see.
