Bonjour France!

My French breakfast to start my day

I have now made it to my first international destination, Bayonne, France! Bayonne is a beautiful city rich in heritage and amazing people and food. I was here in 2018 for a few days and it feels like I’m being greeted by an old friend. I’m even staying in the same hotel as I did in 2018. It’s a bit surreal to be here as the trip that’s been in my head for months is finally taking shape.

I got in around 11pm last night, so I’ve had a good nights rest after that long travel from the Bay Area. Today will be a quieter day, less rushed, as I make my way this afternoon, via short train ride, to the city of the starting point of the Camino de Santiago, St. Jean Peid de Port. I am “easing” into the walk these next two days by making sure I’m well rested, adjusted to the 9 hour time difference, and have any additional provisions I need (walking sticks, Camino passport, etc). Sept 6, I will take my first steps on the Camino. More to post about France later today…. Au Revoir for now!
