09/27- Woke up nice and early today and hit the trail leaving Itero de la Vega headed to the town of Población de Campos.

Today was a relatively easy walk, as it was primarily level all the way to my destination. The plains are just so golden and beautiful and the sky and clouds continue to be a thing of beauty. Not a ton to write about today. It was a good day, great weather, flat walk, a lot to think about and see.

As I continued to walk the trail today I entered into the old town of Boadilla del Camino. This town has been around since 950AD and holds an ancient church, Santa Maria XVI, that was erected in 1509. Amazing to see these old towns whose many buildings are still in use today. We just have nothing like this in the states.

Storks build huge nests on the top of these churches.

The trail then led to the river, Rio Pisuerga, which was a lovely change from the gravel roads earlier in the day. I walked along the river for quite some time before the trail veered back to the roadside.

424KM to Santiago!!
Ultimately reached my destination at Albergue La Finca, which will be my resting spot for the night. This is a family run hostile for pilgrims only and for 24 Euro you get your room and homemade dinner. Tonight was lentil soup, salad, meatballs with potatoes and melon for dessert. Served with red wine of course! This price is the common cost for most of the places I stay, unless I choose a hotel room. All of them include restrooms with showers, and oftentimes laundry service, or tonight, a washer and clothesline to dry your clothes. Ahhh the life of a pilgrim! 😊

My thoughts: I continue to be in awe of the surrounding landscape and people I encounter each day. Have my buddies Mike and Viola with me on the trail again today. Humble, fortunate, and appreciative of each and every day on the Camino.
