09/24- Left at 6:30 this morning, saying goodbye to Burgos and headed to Rabe de las Calzadas. Shorter walk today as I am now at the beginning of the “Meseta”.

Walking toward Rabe today was fun. Great views as usual as I head into the flatlands of Spain. A lot of pilgrims on the route today. One particular was a guy from Italy with a sign on his back that said “free hugs”. So fun!

The walk today was simple. Cold (about 50’degrees), cloudy, and windy. Such a change from the warm days a week ago. The journey was mostly flat, on gravel paths and meandering through several towns. The stretches between cities will begin to lengthen as I start walking the plains of Spain in the upcoming days. This is the “mental” or “soulful” part of the journey they say.

Stopped for a quick bite to eat and a coffee along the way with my walking buddies in a great little town called Tardajos. These little towns are my favorites along the walk.

Rabe de Las Calzadas
My thoughts: A more quiet introspective day today. I just enjoyed the beautiful scenery, people and weather. Very fortunate to be on this pilgrimage and I don’t take that for granted.
