09/20- Love these early mornings where I can get up and on the trail before the sun rises. Makes for a beautiful morning where I can beat the heat and get into the next town before it gets too hot or too late. It gives me time to really enjoy my whereabouts. Today I walked from Granõn to the town of Belorado.

Today is a bit of a shorter walk, on purpose, to just give my body and “easier” day. I passed through so many small towns today on my route to Belorado. The weather continues to be lovely and reaching a high of 74. The morning was cold (around 42) the last two days, and I finally needed to use my jacket I’ve been lugging around from place to place.

The scenery is about the same as yesterday with a lot of hay and sunflower fields growing all around us. Todays walk has some uphill climbs that were challenging but nothing I couldn’t push past.

Every town offers water stations for our water bottles, or in my case my water bladder I keep in my mochilla (backpack). Some of them date back a long time, some are new. Always interesting in how they are presented.

Like many of these towns, Belorado is a smaller town of 2,100 people. It has many meandering small, cobblestone roads made up of homes, eateries and pilgrim albergues (hostels).

My accommodations tonight is a larger hostel with 20 beds in one room. The cool thing is the albergue also is home to its own restaurant as well as a swimming pool. A lot of pilgrims are staying here and I’ve run into several I’ve not seen in a while. Always fun to catch up. Tonight we will all eat together and that is always a fun time.

My thoughts: getting closer to the city of Bergos. They say if you make it there, you can make it all the way to Santiago. I’m excited to get there. Two more days and I’ll reach Bergos and have a rest day. Tomorrow is all uphill and will be very challenging as we all walk up steep terrain with increased elevations. I look forward to getting to the end and feeling accomplished. My feet have a few blisters. Most are tiny and no big deal. My one large blister, I’ve named Judas. Gotta have a sense of humor on the trail sometimes! 😊
