Walk Day 10- Logroño

Sept 15- So many amazing things on the walk today. Hit over 100 miles walked!!! A huge milestone for me. Today my journey went from the city of Torres del Rio to Logroño 24 km (15 miles).

Celebrating 100 miles walked to date!!!!!

A lot of beautiful emotions today. Today would also be our 38th wedding anniversary if Tiffany were still with us, so was a special day and turned out to be just like that.. special.

Sunrise in Spain

I left pretty early this morning walking with my Camino buddies from North Carolina. The sunrise today couldn’t have been more majestic and just set the tone for a day of love, caring, and beauty.

Walking with my friend Mike from North Carolina

Messages just popped up everywhere today demonstrating the care everyone shares for this journey. There were piles of rocks with loving sentiments, beautiful vistas, a tree with flags placed by pilgrims of every country and the list goes on.

Random messages of encouragement on the trail. Love them!
Flags tied on by pilgrims from all over the world

About halfway through my walk, feeling a bit emotional, I heard music playing from somewhere and followed the music to find a man, sitting in the path of the walk, just playing this beautiful music for us pilgrims, just to show his care for our journey. Brought me to tears for so many reasons today.

This gentleman was playing beautiful music out in the middle of nowhere.

Took a nice break today in the town Viana, a beautiful town rich with history. It was truly lovely. Walking out of Viana, I officially entered the Rioja region of Spain. Rioja is the major wine region of Spain (like Napa). This region dates back to 873 and is the long standing region of wines produced in Spain.

Walking into Viana
Turns out there is a rose named for the Camino! Who would have thought. Saw this in a garden coming into Logroño.
Smelled amazing!

Finally reaching Logroño today. Will have a rest day tomorrow, in a little apartment downtown with my friends Mike and Viola from NC.

View of Logroño from the apartment.

My thoughts: today was filled with emotion. Mostly though, I continue to find myself humbled and grateful to be able to experience the Camino de Santiago and all that it brings. Beautiful scenery, amazing, caring people, and messages from beyond.
